Success in anything, including weight loss and body transformations, begins with a thought. It starts so simple, just a thought. You only get started on that goal if your desire to have lose the weight and get the body you want outweighs the desire to eat whatever you want, to sleep in, and to be comfortable. Therefore, before you begin to successfully transform your body, it is necessary to make changes in your life, and determine the best way to reach your goal. I find it best to adopt the ‘no excuse’ attitude, the ‘winning at all cost’ attitude in order to succeed.
Do any of the following excuses sound familiar to you? “If I just had more time, I would lose weight.” “I tried to eat right, but my kids want pizza. “Every time I plan to try, something always comes up.” “Eating healthy is too expensive.” If you continue to blame outside factors and to make up excuses, you will continue to have the same results (read-NONE). If you think that somebody else, or something else is stopping you from reaching your goals, STOP THAT THINKING NOW. IT IS NOT TRUE. You and ONLY you have control over what you eat and if you succeed.
The most important factor in losing weight and getting in shape is taking responsibility for your actions. You need to take responsibility for what you eat, for your activity level, and for your level of commitment. Everything you eat is a decision you make. Like, whether or not to have seconds and go above your calories for the day, or whether or not to have desert even though you are at your calories. You are held accountable by your body for each decision you make, good or bad. This may sound harsh, but it is a fact.
Be proactive. Don’t just take life as it comes. Take the responsibility (response-ability) for your own life. Proactive people don’t blame others or their circumstances for their failures. They understand that their success in life is based on their conscious choices and the willpower they exhibit.
Next time you’re faced with a time where you attempt to rationalize a choice that won’t get you closer to your goals, change the way you think, and get outside of your comfort zone, and just for once do something you wouldn’t normally do. You’ll see that it really isn’t that hard. It’s the first step, which seems so unsurmountable that is the challenge. Jump in with two feet, and don’t even look back. Once you realize the power you already have inside of you, overcoming obstacles will be easier. Build upon these successful choices until it isn’t even a choice anymore, it is just something that you do. Eliminate the self-talk that tells you that you can’t do something. There is no reason in the world that you can’t do whatever you dream. You already have, inside of you, what it takes to succeed.
